On the way we will visit Zimbor Castle, a Baroque style building, which was lost in gambling by the former owner, a Hungarian nobleman. From sins to saints: we head towards Stramba Monastery, a very nice church and its amazing surroundings. Lunch on the road towards Porolissum. Visit the Roman Citadel. Here is the guide’s job. Back to Cluj Napoca. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 3: Cluj Napoca - Bologa Medieval Citadel – Ciucea Castle – Cluj Napoca

After breakfast we travel on the right bank of Crisul Repede River to Ciucea, at about 70 km away from Cluj Napoca. Visit Medieval Citadel of Bologa and The Castle of Ciucea, well-known in Romania for its owner. Ciucea Castle is a very nice little château bought by the Romanian poet Octavian Goga – Prime Minister of Romania for a short period between the two World Wars - from Ady Endre’s widow in 1919 (Ady Endre was a Hungarian poet and also a very good friend of Goga). Of course that we’ll have lunch on the road. Accommodation and dinner in our cozy hotel in Cluj Napoca.

Quiz time: How many Cris rivers do you know? If you want to find the answer, read through the offer!

Day 4: Cluj Napoca – Lupsa Monastery- Scarisoara Glacier – Alba Iulia

Breakfast everybody! Departure to the main Roman and Medieval Citadel of Transylvania – Apullum Alba Iulia. But first of all we will visit an old orthodox Monastery - Lupsa and we’ll enter the Western Carpathians (Apuseni Mountains in Romanian) to see Scarisoara glacier, located in Scarisoara Cave, in the middle of the mountains. You have to take care to wear warm clothes because there is no heat in the cave, but plenty of ice all around. Lunch on the road. Accommodation and dinner in a 4* hotel in Alba Iulia.

Day 5: Alba Iulia – Ramet Monastery – Alba Iulia

Breakfast as usual. We will continue our cultural and religious tour to Ramet Monastery with its very nice landscapes and we’ll return back to Alba Iulia, a city to be seen. 1600 is a very important year for Romania because Michael The Brave, the leader of the Romanians from Romanian Country proclaimed (for a short while, unfortunately) the Union of the Romanian territories situated in the three regions around the Carpathians: Walachia (South), Moldova (East and North-East) and Transylvania (Center and West). The Great Union took place in 1918 in Alba Iulia also, and that is why this town is very important for the Romanian Nation. We’ll visit the Roman Citadel, Medieval Vauban Citadel, Orthodox and Catholic Churches, Union Museum. We’ll also have a medieval lunch with medieval dishes but nowadays ingredients, of course; nevertheless, spirits and wines could be older! Accommodation and dinner in the hotel.

Day 6: Alba Iulia – Turda Salt Mine – Cluj Napoca

After breakfast we’ll ask our two good friends, the guide and the driver to start a new trip to Cluj Napoca. Stop in Turda and enter the Salt Mine for a visit. You’ll feel better after this visit, because this stop is good for your breath, throat and lungs. Lunch in Turda. Welcome back to Cluj Napoca. Accommodation in a 4* hotel in Cluj Napoca.
